Nelly Solares is a local choir director who has been singing Alto with MVCS since its inception. Since taking over as the Director of Choirs at West Potomac High School in 2023, the program has seen a significant increase in enrollment, now boasting over 120 members, and has sent delegates to District and State honor choirs, as well as the VMEA Senior Honor Choir each year. In addition, Nelly currently works as Adjunct Professor and Head Vocal Coach for the George Mason University Green Machine Pep Band, and serves as the Vocal Music Director for West Potomac’s Beyond the Page Theater Company. Outside of the vocal arts, Nelly also plays percussion with the Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia. As the first elected President of the Mount Vernon Chamber Singers and as a transplant-Alexandrian, Nelly is eager to see MVCS continue to enrich the local community by spreading an appreciation for the arts, and she is elated to do so by making beautiful music with her dear friends and esteemed colleagues.
