Katie Pekala-Ballou grew up in Springfield, Virginia, and is proud to now teach in FCPS, the same community that first inspired her love of music. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Shenandoah University and her Master’s degree in Musicology from the University of Edinburgh. Katie performed with Shenandoah University’s Conservatory Choir, the University of Edinburgh Chamber Choir—touring with them in Italy—as well as The City Choir of Washington and the Vocal Arts Ensemble of Fairfax. Katie lives in Woodbridge with her husband Aaron, their dog, and two cats: Duke, Jewel, and Jeremiah.
